Our Founder: A Life Dedicated to Service
Mr. Foo Say Thye, recipient of the 2019 Singapore Silent Heroes Award, has been a passionate volunteer for over two decades — and continues to serve the community with the same unwavering dedication.
In 1994, Mr Foo made the life-changing decision to leave his career as a stock dealer and commit himself fully to volunteer work. Since then, he has contributed his time and heart to numerous non-profit organizations, including Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital, Sree Narayana Mission, and the Community Chest.
In 2007, Mr. Foo founded Heartwarmers, his own volunteer group, with the mission of reaching those who often fall through the cracks. Through initiatives like Project 100=50, Heartwarmers has supported Singaporeans who require help but do not qualify for traditional financial assistance schemes.
Today, U Group Holdings continues to uphold Mr. Foo's value, creating meaningful job opportunities for young volunteers and supporting low-income families — including providing coffee care packs throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
We remain committed to keeping the spirit of volunteerism in Singapore young, vibrant, and alive.
Leone Coffee - Life Should Taste as Good
It all began in October 2019, when our founder Mr. Foo Say Thye noticed a troubling trend — the rising cost of coffee in Singapore. Believing that premium quality should remain accessible to all, he set out to create a brand that offers exceptional coffee without the hefty price tag. And so, Leone Coffee was born.
Leone Coffee, symbolized by a Lion, aims to bring high quality “kopi” into the global market so that every Singaporean can get a taste of home.
After more than a year of meticulous sampling and refining outstanding premium coffee beans from around the world, Leone Coffee found its home in Malacca, Malaysia - where we partnered with a respected, leading manufacturer boasting over 40 years of expertise to ethically source and develop our unique kopi blend.
Today, Leone Coffee proudly serves customers in Singapore, China, and Uzbekistan — with more to come. Whether it’s your daily brew or a nostalgic sip from the past, Leone is here to share the warmth of Singaporean coffee culture with the world.
